But you don’t know where to start?

Don’t worry, in this post you can read about famous musicians and bands of that time.

“Bjelo Dugme”- “The White Buttom”

One of most famous bands from ex – yugoslavia

~ Google

Bjelo Dugme is formed in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 1973.

This band fused Balkan folk with rock, creating a sound that felt both traditional and rebellious.

I recommend you to check out this songs:

Ruzica si bila sada vise nisi” – “You were a rose”

Hajdemo u planine” – “Lets go to the mountains”

Bitanga i princeza” – “Basterd and a princess”

Tako ti je mala moja kad ljiubi Bosanac“- ” That’s how my little girl kisses a Bosnian”

And of course not to forget to mention:

Djurdjevdan“- “St. Georges day”, which is a song that every person from ex-Yugoslavia has heard of.

Their music was loved by every generation, from children to teenagers.

                                                                                       And from teenagers to adults.

Even today, their music is well known by children and teenagers all over the ex-yu region.

“Riblja Corba”- “Fish Soup”

The Biggest fish in the sea

Riblja Corba is an ex-yu band formd between 1978 and 1979 in Belgrade.

Long story short, a talented singer and tekst writer named Bora Corba decided to form an band with his old friends.

At first the band schould be called “Bora and the fighters” but insted they gave it a name “Fish Soup” wich meant menstrual cycle in belgrade slang.

They are famous for there revutional and creative text.

They used words that were considered inadaquet to be in songs for that time.

Its like they invented new way of music.

These are my favourite songs:

Kad sam bio mlad“- “when I was young”

Poglrdaj dom svoj andjele“- ”Look at your home angel”

Nemoj da ides mojom ulicom“- “Don’t go along my street “

Dva dinara druze ” – ” two dinar my friend”

Toma Zdravkovic

“A movie that made everyone cry”

~by the publisher

Toma Zdravkovic was one of the best singers and musicians in the history of Yogoslavia. He worked on and wrote many bangers at that time. Sadly, he was a drunk addict, and had a very pessimistic outlook on his life. That is probably one of the reasons why his songs are masterpices that can bring out strong emotions like joy and sadness.

These are the most popular songs by him:

Za Ljiljanu ” – ” For Ljiljana “

Dva smo sveta razlicita” – ” We are two different Worlds “

Svirajte nocas samo zanju “- ” Tonight play just for her “

Ther is also a movie named “Toma” that shows his life from young age to his death.

This movie made everyone who watched it cry.

I would totally recommend you to wtch it.

Zdravko Colic

“The most iconic concert I’ve went to”

~by the publisher

Zdravko Colic is my personal favorite. I love his songs and lyrics.

He performed at” Arsenal Fest “last year and the whole city was there. He performed live with an orchester, and he sang a whole 2 hours and 30 minutes without autotune or playback.

And I think that it is awesome that a man at his age can perform and sing better than 98% of today’s stars.

My favourite songs:

Pusti, pusti modu” – ” Let go of fashion “

Kao moja mati ” – ” Like my mother “

Noc mi te duguje ” – ” Night owns you to me “

And so many more….

What is your favorite musician/band from this list?

And have you any song recommendations?

If yes, feel free to write to me.
